Anyone who has ever rented an apartment knows that the less the amount of “stuff” you accumulate, the easier it is to live.  However, throughout time, it is inevitable that things will be acquired and you may just run out of space for living!  Therefore, I have put together a list of helpful tips to help keep your apartment tidy and under control with minimal effort.

1. Storage Coffee Tables

These great space-saver tables are perfect for those of you living in a small space.  They serve as both a space for playing games, resting your feet, displaying photographs, and putting your drinks as well as a place to store the games, keep photo albums, organize your bills, and to keep a blanket.  Other great furniture in similar fashion include chests, ottomans, and end tables

2. Computer Desks with Storage

This is similar to the coffee table idea.  Almost everyone has a computer set up in their living spaces these days and sometimes, people do not utilize this space to their advantage.  In a small apartment, using a computer desk with storage or file cabinets is a great way to organize and store paperwork, important documents, blank cds, and other such things.

3. Platform Beds

Instead of shoving your clothes and other random goods under the bed, why not become organized while utilizing the space beneath and buy a platform bed.  These beds usually have two drawers with pull-out drawers underneath it.

4. Hooks and Shelves

Using hooks to hang up jackets, keys, brooms, purses, or other such gear is a great way to keep track of your things and keep them off the floor.  Shelves can be stylish and hold a variety of belongings.  You can even get the combination of the two to save wall space.

5. Shelving Units or Filing Cabinets in Closets

Placing short filing cabinets or low-level shelving units in your closet is a great way to make the most out of the space available in your closets.  You can organize your belongings at the bottom of your closet and still have enough room to hang your shirts and short clothing.
