My Most Enjoyable Bathroom Reads
I’m not exactly one who likes to take their time in the bathroom. Get in, get out, move on. On occasion, however, I get the urge to take a nice steamy bath to relax and get away from the world. I get bored very easily so my favorite thing to do while in the bath: read!
What I read in the tub entirely depends on my mood. It usually consists of humorous material, but sometimes I find myself engulfed in a book or studying for the exam I have that week. Here are a few of my favorite bathroom reading material in no particular order.
Ok, I said these weren’t listed in any particular order, but this is by far my favorite read. This magazine is hilarious and provides me with a slew of useless information that I love to collect! mental_floss began in 2000 as a college campus read and has taken off from there! It includes facts and trivia in a humorous way. The creators have now expanded into books, their “In a Box” series, trivia games, clothing, and have a fun website that I highly recommend checking out.
Entertainment Weekly
Usually I could care less about the latest celebrity gossip or who’s-wearing-what-seeing-who in Hollywood, but occasionally I like to throw my brains out the window and pick up an entertainment magazine. Any magazine can do, but Entertainment Weekly is the one my boyfriend gets a subscription to. This magazine covers topics such as movies, Broadway, books, celebrities, and celebrity news. I personally enjoy the ratings and reviews they do on books and movies. What are your favorite gossip magazines?
Newspaper Comics
I recently purchased a short subscription to my local newspaper from a girl in high school trying to raise money to go to camp, or something. I have come to appreciate the comics section for laughs when I am relaxing in the tub. My favorite comics include Pickles by Brian Crane and Grand Avenue by Steve Breen and Mike Thompson. What are your favorite comics to read?
This series is a favorite among many bathroom readers. The books are similar to the concept of mental_floss, with trivia and facts galore! Can you tell I love to gather useless knowledge yet? Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader also contains short essays on an array of topics. Highly recommended for those of you who spend a lot of time reading in the bathroom, as these books are quite thick.
Books, Books, Books
If you couldn’t tell by now, I thoroughly enjoy reading (but don’t have much time, hence reading in the bathroom). There are a million and one books written out there that I want to read. I’m an avid fan of Christian literature as well as fantasy and family novels. A few favorites are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Lovely Bones, and the works of C.S. Lewis. What are your favorite books to delve into?
