Pepsi Refresh: Pepsi is doing good – My complex is doing good

I recently came home to find a note stuck to my door. I worried at first it was going to be one of my neighbors telling me I was watching the first episode of the final Season of LOST too loud. Instead, it was a letter from the complex announcing they were accepting monetary donations to help the Haitian earthquake victims. I found this awesome since my last Pepsi-related article was about helping out Haiti! Check it out: Haiti: Everybody’s Doing it!

Well, I marched right down to the office and donated $20 smackers. It’s not as much as I wish I could donate, but I am currently looking into sponsoring a child over there for the next year through Compassion International. I just figured: My apartment complex is reaching out; I need to support this!

When I was in the leasing office making my donation, I started talking to one of the office secretaries and she told me quite a few of my neighbors have come down to donate. She said she was pleasantly surprised by the turn out, which made me really excited! I don’t live in the safest or friendliest city, so hearing that made me feel good about where I currently reside. Good job and thank you neighbors, from little ol’ me! Oh, and just in case you’re one of those people who read my budgeting article (I’m Budgeting- and it Doesn’t Suck), I took the donation money out of my fun money for that week. So it worked out in my favor!

We were so inspired by Pepsi reallocating their marketing money to go toward the greater good in their Pepsi Refresh campaign that we decided to do our own small part in helping out our communities.  Each week we will be posting blogs on ways we have contributed to bettering the communities we live in.  I hope you enjoy and get inspired to make a difference!
