Apartment Warming Tracks: 15 Songs You Hadn’t Considered
Ready to welcome guests into your new pad? Keep the party alive with the right beats. I generally choose music with solid beats and minimal “emo.” Here are some tracks that will keep the conversation moving and the guests moving. (Each song links to the song on YouTube.)
Bandoleros, Don Omar Feat. Tego Calderon: A chill vibe with a throwback to The Fast and The Furious soundtrack.
- North, Phoenix: Sans lyrics, this relaxing track can warm a room. It’s perfect for small groups who love wine.
- The Girl You Lost To Cocaine (Stonebridge radio edit), Sia: Something that you don’t hear often from one of the most creative chick artists around. Alas, friends will be impressed with your diversity.
- Let It Go, Bryan Jones: The perfect wake up track, this song mixes a house beat with a jazz feel.
- The One, Mary J Blige Ft Drake: For when you need to seduce in an in-control, sexy sort of way.
- Flossin’, The Cool Kids: Just in case you’re white, but love some swagger.
- Move For Me, Kaskade & Deadmau5: A near must-have for the relaxed party that still has some tipsy dancers.
1981 (Original Mix), Deadmau5: Perfect for the party that intentionally has some dark corners and a lot of tequila.- Mass Appeal, Gang Starr: Keeps heads unconsciously bobbing.
- Hombre, M.I.A.: Excuse me little hombre, take my number call me…
- Bounce, MSTRKRFT: Perfect to hype up the crowd. Just make sure to keep your apartment in tact. Losing your security deposit so soon would be a shame.
- Skew It On The Bar-B, Outkast: Hips are moving, beer is flowing, party is bumping.
- Let Me See The Booty, The Dream (Feat. Lil Jon): Perfect only if you’re in the hood with a fridge full of 40s.
- Blanco, Pitbull (Feat. Pharrell): Oh, you have dark corners all over the place? Seduce on, my friend.
- Wearing My Rolex, Wiley: For the British in you, party on. This song was recommended to me by a group of 20-something Australian guys while I was staying in a Brooklyn hostel. What else can I say?
