Things Are Heating Up – Time to Get Your Summer Wardrobe Ready
April is quickly coming to an end and as May approaches you are sure to see more warm days. Coats will soon be altogether forgotten, scarves will slowly start to be neglected and sunglasses will be the prized accessory every day.
That’s right, all of these things will happen before you know it. So take a minute and get your summer wardrobe ready to go. Check your closet for things you already have that are ready to go for Summer 2010 and start making some decisions about which essentials you want to buy for a summer wardrobe update.
Here is a checklist of some of summer’s hottest trends to help you get started.
Lycra: Whether you choose leggings or choose to go for the shorter biker-shorts style, trendsetters everywhere seem to be making a statement with lycra. I will leave it up to you to decide whether you think that statement is a good or a bad one, but regardless, the option is there…and lots of people are liking it!
Distressed denim: Jackets, pants, shorts, bags, everything! If its denim, get it distressed or make it distressed yourself. Who knew so much denim could be so hot again? It’s true, it’s making a comeback. The nineties won’t call and want it back, I promise. Just don’t overdo it.
Hotpants: Otherwise known as “short shorts,” hotpants are back again. Bare your legs this summer with hotpants in a wide range of styles. They’re popping up in stores already – jean, khaki, black, seersucker, you’ll have a lot to choose from.
Nude-colored pieces: From shoes to shirts, and even pants and skirts, nude is the color. Keep it simple or spruce it up with a bright-colored accessory. Just don’t forget to put your pants on!
Preppy button-ups: Always a classic. These are easy to dress up for the office, and if there is no time to stop at home after work you can make it glam with a fun necklace or scarf for a night out with friends.
